A trusted practitioner and educator, John J. Kim L.Ac., Ph.D. has a diverse and wide-raging practice in acupuncture, herbal medicine, Qi gong, Zen Meditation, and several other disciplines of Eastern Medicine. He holds a Master’s degree in acupuncture from Emperor’s College, a Doctor of Oriental Medicine degree from SAMRA University and also a Ph.D. in Oriental Medicine from Yuin University.

Since the beginning of his professional career in 1987, he has researched and published numerous articles on various aspects of a holistic healing and traditional Oriental Medicine. From 1994 to 2000, he was an active member of the Acupuncture Board of the State of California. Though his leadership as chairman of the Board in 1999 and 2000, his commitment to bridging the gap between Eastern and Western medicine has garnered a wider acceptance by both medical communities.

He is also dedicated to enriching his community. In addition to his practice, he had been teaching Qi gong (breathing and stress reduction exercise similar to Yoga) for 20 years. He runs Zen Meditation classes to the public for over a decade. He also takes his patients and colleagues on a weekend long retreat to Sedona, Arizona twice a year.

Licensed Acupuncturist and Doctor of Chiropractic

dr-ernieDr. Ernest Kim is a licensed acupuncturist and chiropractor who graduated with honors from Southern California University of Health Sciences.He also holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Colorado, Boulder.

His journey of healing began at the age of 16 when he started working at Re Nu Mi as an acupuncture assistant. Exposure to holistic medicine at an early age greatly influenced his outlook on living a healthy lifestyle. While studying psychology in Boulder, he decided to take a year off and attend massage school. Experience in practicing therapeutic massage since the age of 21 would prove to be greatly beneficial in his current practice as an acupuncturist and chiropractor.

Dr. Ernest Kim believes that the right combination of a balanced diet, exercise, and rest coupled with acupuncture treatments and myofascial release therapies keep the body in an optimal state of health.

A myofascial release therapy from Dr. Ernest Kim does not mean you need to get an adjustment. He believes that the connective tissue and surrounding musculature play a pivotal role in spinal misalignment. For that, he incorporates myofascial release technique in each of his treatments which mostly works with the body’s natural rhythm and breath to deliver a gentle, smooth alignments as needed.
